Motor vehicle manufacturers publish meaningless claims for vehicle fuel economy. In "real world" driving the achievable economy is as much as 35% less than the manufacturer's claims.

The government should legislate to ensure that the fuel economy figures claimed in vehicle sales literature is based on extensive test data collected during "real world" driving of a number of vehicles; not by having one vehicle mounted on a rolling road simulator!
