Rejected petition Respects for All Prophets UK

More details

I Condemn religious hatred and respect of the freedom of expression along with the respects for all prophets.
The anguish felt by Muslims over the production and posting on the internet of a film insulting the prophet and similar acts is shared by all people and communities who reject the use of religion to fuel provocation, conflict and extremism

This petition was rejected

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s about something that the UK Government or Parliament is not directly responsible for.

In the UK we support a self-regulatory model for the Internet and the vast majority of the UK ISP industry takes a responsible approach to what content it hosts. ISPs have contracts with their customers called good practice Acceptable Use Policies (AUPs), which they have recently strengthened, about what may be hosted on their servers.

Therefore, complaints about a particular website’s content should first be directed to the site’s manager. Most AUPs already contain a general clause which allows ISPs to remove sites or content which contain offensive or objectionable material, even if it is not illegal.

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
