Closed petition A ban on the import of ash trees

Closed on

The petition proposes:

That the government should, in light of the significant threat posed by the pathogen Chalara fraxinea, instigate a compulsory ban on the import of all ash trees to the UK.

That, due to the proven speed with which this disease can destroy populations of ash trees, the government should recognise the urgency of the situation and the ability of trade agreements to accommodate such bans under these circumstances.

That the government should take additional measures to combat this disease should it prove to already be established in the UK and that these measures should be taken in addition to a ban.

That the ban should occur regardless of the extent to which the disease has already become established in this country.
