Closed petition Half of all MPs to be women at next General Election
Closed on
We, the undersigned, call upon Parliament to instruct the Government and Boundaries Commission to facilitate a 50% female intake of Members of Parliament at the next General Election by taking these steps.
1) Halve the number of Constituencies.
2) Have each Constituency return one FEMALE and one MALE Member of Parliament.
3) Allow only women to vote for female candidates and only men to vote for male candidates (Transsexual candidates/voters must express a preference).
This Electoral Process to remain in force for FOUR General Elections (or TWENTY YEARS, whichever is the longer period) after which time it lapses, unless extended for a fixed or indefinite period by a vote of the House of Commons.
