I petition the government to introduce a requirement that requires the design of all new-build homes, commercial and public buildings to be so orientated that the maximum area of roof space faces due south so as to faciliate the most effective use of solar energy and, in conjunction with this, that the introduction of obstacles (tall trees, other buildings and objects) is strictly limited in the immediate area on the south side of buildings.
