Rejected petition Bring back Capital Punishment for Police killers and child murderers

We the following feel that a debate or referendum must be held regarding the return of Capital Punishment within the UK.
Where there is no doubt, as in the recent tragic deaths of 2 Manchester Police Officers, there must be a definate and final punishment to deter this being repeated. We also feel that this punishment be given more thought when child murderes are convicted.
There is currently NO deterrent
