Petition to review the current expenses system which currently allows MPs to:
- earn a basic salary of £65k approx.
- claim an additional £29k in 'expenses' (James Duddridge MP, Conservative, Southend East.)
- claim £1570 a month for an additional London home, while renting out one they own (David Amess MP, Southend West)
- claim £95.4million in 2008-2009, £90.7million in 2009-2010,and £71million in 2010-2011 on expenses such as iPads, first class train travel and hotel bills in (Source: The Guardian, October 2012)
In the past three years, the cost of MPs wages plus additional expenses has topped £300million- think how many schools, hospitals, social workers, care homes, Police Officers that could pay for?
