In nothern ireland energy companys profit is caped at 1.7% In the rest of the UK, where no such cap exists that profit margin can be as high as 10%.That meant that lower wholesale prices of Coal and Gas earlier this year led to the recent drop in Northern Ireland bills. But despite using these same raw materials, the British companies are pushing prices in the opposite direction - at rates far out-stripping inflation.
