Rejected petition Fair minimum wage
More details
The minimum wage should be raised to £10 per hour.
This would be a fair wage to enable people to support themselves financially, the current minimum wage is not a livable wage.
This would help to reduce the welfare bill by creating a genuine incentive to work and reducing the pay out of tax credits and other similar benefits.
It would increase tax revenue.
It would help to stimulate the economy as more people would have disposable income and as a result would spend more.
This would be affordable for most businesses. Tax relief could be offered to small start up businesses to make this affordable. The increased income tax and reduced welfare would easily offset any tax relief given.
