At least 6 million eligible voters are not registered to vote in the UK, more than 2.5 million over the previous estimate, according to research published by the Electoral Commission on December 14th 2011.

Electors should not be prevented from casting their ballot through inability to register to vote on the day of the election.

This petition requests that the Government introduce legislation and support to local authorities to ensure that electors can register to vote and vote on the same day of the election; for all Local, European Parliamentary, UK Parliamentary. Police and Crime Commissioner, Welsh Assembly, Scottish Parliament and Directly Elected Mayor elections.
