Rejected petition Fat Cat Pay Outs for Failure

More details

The government should give clear guidelines for failed public figures on what they should receive on resignation. The suggestion that the Director General of the BBC should receive a whole 12 months’ pay for failing to carry out his leadership role within his first two months is unacceptable to the majority of the public.
This sets a terrible example to other workers who are much lower paid. If they fail after a short period perhaps they too should demand a full year's pay in lieu.
The ruse that helping to sort out the mess they have presided over is no justification for a handout from the fee paying public.

This petition was rejected

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s about something that the UK Government or Parliament is not directly responsible for.

The BBC is independent of Government. The Director General's remuneration is a matter for the Executive Board of the BBC and the BBC Trust.

It is the responsibility of the BBC Trust to ensure that the BBC delivers financial efficiency and hold the Executive to account for its performance in delivering value for money.

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
