The decision to move the BBC's core service to Manchester was idiotic.

The Broadcaster needs to be at the heart of Government and the southern power-house economy.

Salford was chosen to be make the BBC more inclusive and all it has succeeded in doing is making it remote from the centre of power. This has been obvious from their handling of the Newsnight fiasco.

There is no reason not to have a Northern studio as a provincial feed
