This petition was submitted during the 2010-2015 parliament
Petition 2021 census needs to be kept, but simplified.
More details
The government should be made to finance the 2021 census, not scrap it.
Francis Maude is considering scrapping the census in 2021. This is to save money. The 2011 census cost £480 million pounds because it was far too complicated, which is possibly the reason so many people did not fill it in.
The 2011 census consisted of 32 pages, and included lots of information that was not the responsibility of the census enumerators, but the DWP.
Many people who study genealogy know that the information on the 1911 census is enough for a census.
Any other statistics can be gleaned from the DWP or the NHS.
