The government (if the required signatures are obtained) must reach a decision regarding the increased airport capacity in the South East of England.
This includes a third runway at Heathrow, a new airport in the Thames Estuary or the expansion of London's other airports.
A decision would need to be reached quickly and put in place before the 2015 election, with the conclusion of the decision (e.g a third runway at Heathrow) being put into place immediately and not after 2015.
Consequences of not acting quickly would see European rivals excelling due to better air links with growing economies in other parts of the world.
