Criminals are being awarded thousands of pounds for injuries sustained during lawful arrests for offences such as burglary and robbery.

These criminals often have an extensive criminal record but get away with their crimes due to insufficient evidence or points of law.

They then go on to sue the police for injuries sustained; such as dog bites when they were trying to escape.

These claims are clearly a burden on the courts and the public purse.

Criminals should not be allowed to profit from their crimes and a common sense approach needs to be adopted when assessing these spurious claims.
