Aortic dissection is a rare condition – and it is not an easy diagnosis to make. An estimated. 1 in every 100,000 people every year develops the condition.

Aortic dissection occurs when a tear in the inner wall of the aorta causes blood to leak into the pericardial sac ... an 80% mortality rate, and 50% of patients die before they even reach the hospital.

More has to be done to bring awareness to this terrible condition, including aortic imaging for the children and siblings of a person affected by this.
