It is time that the Government took positive action to help English pubs in the current economic crisis.
I call on the Government to scrap the tax escalator on beer and reduce the current tax burden on beer and to offer favourable financial support, through whatever appropriate means, to prevent pub closures in the short term and to make it financially attractive for pub landlords so that English pubs remain part of our history and culture for the long term.
