The Sri Lankan Government was locked into a 26 year war with the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE, and better known as the Tamil Tigers), during that period many crimes were committed by both sides, however during the closing stages of the war the Sri Lankan Government forces were involved in acts of genocide against the Tamil minority.

The UN estimates that 40,000 civilians were massacred during this period.

The British Government should immediately break off diplomatic relations with Sri Lanka. End all arms trade with Sri Lanka. Submit Resolutions to the UN Security Council and European Parliament censuring Sri Lanka and condemning the actions of their military. Formerly call for the International Criminal Court to investigate the Sri Lankan Military for war crimes. Lobby for the expulsion of Sri Lanka from the Commonwealth.
