Closed petition Stop the MoD using live pigs for trauma training

Closed on

The MoD are sending personnel to Denmark where pigs are shot at close range so military surgeons can be trained.

This practice is completely unnecessary as the military have life-like human simulators that 'breathe' and 'bleed' realistically and which have been shown to better at preparing doctors and medics to treat injured humans.

Of course military surgeons need to be trained but to do it in this way is ethically and morally wrong.

Would we train a NHS doctor in this manner?

This practise has been condemned by both the RSPCA & PETA.

see http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-20383673 for more details.

I urge all readers of this e-petition to sign it so this matter can be debated by MP's in the House of Commons.
