Petition Limit the personal information held by credit reference companies and restrict how they obtain personal information

This petition asks the Government to restrict the amount of personal financial information held by companies such as equifax and experian to only that information which a person agrees to. Secondly, the methods frequently used by these companies to collect information is questionable and frequently therefore possibly illegal. Thirdly, information held by these companies should only be released following receipt of written confirmation from the individual concerned. Details of any and all applications for information together with the identity of the applicant and the reason for request of such information on any individual must be disclosed. Finally all information should be disposed of after three years.
