A call for the Government to promise that it will not privatise the probation service, nor allow private companies or charities to run any part of the probation service. It is the State's responsibility to ensure the safety of society and of prisoners on probation and they should not shirk this by allowing private companies and charities to make money out of a scheme which will cost the taxpayer more money for less effective results.
