Petition Does the law protect burglary victims who fight back? Who knows.

In recent times, it has become more obvious to me, that to distinguish the exact definition of 'reasonable force’ is astonishingly difficult for any ordinary person. This is unacceptable.

The law needs to be clearer. Clear enough that every person in the United Kingdom knows what they are permitted to do when confronting an intruder in their home.

Here’s a fun fact: In the last 5 years, 11 people have been prosecuted for attacking intruders in their home.They all pleaded not guilty, and believed that they were acting in self-defence; but due to the confusing law, they were apparently in the wrong.
