Closed petition Punishment for theft of vehicles

Punishment for motor vehicle theft is usually community service or fines, I petition that offenders if found guilty should be made to pay for the upkeep of the stolen vehicle ( or if destroyed the new vehicle) this would include costs for mot, tax, general repairs and insurance or a reasonable amount depending on case, I feel this would learn young offenders in particular the cost involved in having a vehicle and perhaps make them understand why people are so upset and angry when someone take it upon themselves to steal another's motor
