Closed petition Reduce MPs Wages to £19,000 and Cut Expenses Allowances

Closed on

MPs should immediately effect a pay cut to £19,000 for all Members for the remainder of Parliament. Elected officials should lead by example in helping to reduce costs to the public purse.
Further, all MPs and Lords not residing within Greater London should only be able to claim, if in attendance, a £70 per day (Monday – Friday) maximum expense limit for hotel accommodation and subsistence, plus a maximum of £140 for weekly or part thereof in travel expenses. Those residing within Greater London can claim up to £60 per week that the Houses are in attendance to cover the cost of a 7-Day Travelcard. Should MPs choose to travel in other than scheduled public transport they do so at their own expense.
Costs of constituency offices that each MP should be able to claim should be reduced to a maximum of £50k (outside of London), £70k (within Greater London) inclusive of Staffing, Rental, Administrative Expenditure etc.
