To maximise funds to be drawn from the National Lottery to aid charities etc; franchisees should be required to run the lottery on a non profit making basis. As at 2013 the current company chairman takes a salary in excess of £1million and also gets bonuses. Other companies have offered to run the process at cost and the current statutory requirements to run the lottery need to be changed to ensure that this stipulation is added to the franchise conditions.
