Petition Horse meat contamination investigation

The petition ask the government to conduct an immediate and thorough investigation into how beef and other meat products managed to become contaminated with horse meat; to investigate other meats to see if they have been contaminated with donkey, horse or other products (whether animal or otherwise) which are not listed in the ingredients stated on the food product; to increase the number of unannounced trading standards officer visits in the UK to take samples from meat-processing factories and supermarkets; and to increase the penalties, whether criminal or civil, for companies and individuals found to have deceived customers by adding horse meat or other ingredients (animal or otherwise) into food products.
