Petition Reduce Childminder Fees to Help Working Families

We the undersigned would like to see the Government bringing about much stronger measures to cap Registered Childminder fees (working from home) to one third of the minimum hourly wage per child.

OFSTED have enabled/encouraged Registered Childminders to triple the the size of their fees between 1997-2009 to over £5 per child per hour.

Most child minders have more than one child to look after, which makes their hourly fees sometimes as much as £20 per hour.

When working families are struggling, this is no longer acceptable.

We understand that Childminders have the right to earn a living, but £5.00 per hour for each child is too high.
