Rejected petition Give private candidate a level grades so they can progress to high education
Home-educated children will be left without qualifications this week because only schools can allocate A levels and GCSEs.
this is most detrimental to those resitting a levels as private candidates as these pupils will have to take another year out to resit, severely affecting their mental health
More details
As a resit student myself i know the determination it takes to delay going to uni for a year and put your life on hold in order to retake exams to give yourself a chance of a better future. for those not associated with a centre, due to the fact grades are now issued by teachers, private candidates have been left with no grades this summer. They can sit exams in october, but this means delaying going to university for another year, and taking another year out, which many are distraught about.

Why was this petition rejected?
It’s not clear what the petition is asking the UK Government or Parliament to do.
You want private candidates, such as home-schooled children, to be given A-level grades however you don't specify how you think this should happen. As happens in normal times, private candidates wanting to be considered for a GCSE or A-level have to register with an assessment centre. These centres have been given guidance on what evidence they can consider, in the absence of exam results, when calculating grades for private candidates.
You could start a petition calling for a review of how private candidates' education is assessed and how their university prospects are being affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, if that is something you would like to happen.
We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
