Closed petition Sack ATOS and insource to the NHS

End the contract with ATOS for providing Work Capability Assessments for any benefit and insource the work back to the NHS.
ATOS uses a tick box computer system, making it difficult for medical professionals to use their own judgement. The British Medical Association have condemned the current WCA as “not fit for purpose”.
The current WCA does not sufficiently—or even at all—take into account fluctuating conditions, especially episodic mental health problems.
The opinion of assessed persons own doctors or of other specialist medical personnel who are treating them are either ignored or overridden.
No less than 41% of decisions are appealed, of which 38% are won. At £60 million in a single year, the appeals have cost the taxpayer more than half of the £110 million that was spent on the original assessments.
Thousands of people have died after being put into the wrong groups or being denied benefit all together.
