Health care patients should contribute to their food and accommodation costs on the same basis as for prescriptions, dental and optical care costs.

People who can pay should pay a contribution for these costs which can then be used by the NHS for front line medical services. It is an anomaly of the past that needs to be abolished and is not fit for purpose today.
