Closed Referendum on royal family

I would like the Government of the day to discuss and hold a referendum on whether Britain should retain the Royal family.

For years there been an ongoing argument over the value Britain gains from keeping a Royal family, but the very people that fund the Royals are never asked if they want to remain in a sovereignty or move to a republic.

The support for the royal family can only be gauged if we (the public) are actually asked if we want to continue with the present system

This petition is to force the debate to be made public and to allow the public to have a simple yes / no vote on whether we retain the royal family or call for its abolition
