Closed petition Foreign Aid given in UK manufactured goods instead of cash

Closed on

The government has agreed to spend 0.7% of the UK's gross national income on foreign aid.
Instead of giving this as cash to corrupt governments, which then never reaches the people who actually need it, why can't it be given as goods instead?

Items like mosquito nets, medication, blankets, clothes and food could all be manufactured in the UK and then shipped using UK haulage companies.

This way money is put back into the UK economy, supporting UK industry and providing much needed new jobs in the UK.

The people that need the foreign aid will actually receive it in the form of physical goods rather then their government inappropriately spending it. The items provided would be the ones that the foreign governments should of been buying for their people with the money given by foreign aid.
