Closed petition Cede the Falklands/Malvias to Argentina

We call upon the British government to cede the Malvinas to Argentina.

These islands are a legacy of a distant colonial past and the military costs are an expense that should not be asked of the tax payer or HM armed forces in a time of austerity.

The islanders statements that state they wish to remain in British hands should be seen as an irrelevance due to being socialized into British culture.

Britain has more to gain diplomatically in the long term as pertains to Latin America than in retaining the islands, a decision that surely is concerned more with the reaction of the ultra-nationalistic tabloid press at home than international diplomacy.
