It is wrong that a person who has saved a lifetime to buy his or her house should have their back yards taken from them and given to public use just because Local Authority officials want to grant permission to their pals to build over existing public footpaths recorded on the definitive map.

Victims of such abuse must also be given help to get their property back again.
