The increasing number of cyclists on London's roads, partly driven by Barclays cycle hire, is a fantastic development in terms of reducing emissions and congestion in our capital.
But, a tragic number of cyclists are involved in accidents on London's roads, many of which could be less serious if helmets were more regularly used.
It should be compulsory for all cyclists to wear helmets, not only for their own safety, but also to set a better example for children who are growing up in a city where cycling is both more readily available and also actively encouraged by our mayor.
