Petition Annuities - Stop the rip off

I want to have the monies accumulated in a Personal Pension Plan used to my advantage and not to bolster the profits of an Insurance Company.
Why do I have to purchase an annuity - I am able to make my own decisions and why do I need to “make a bet with a glorified bookmaker” as to when I am likely to die ? And of course the risk is not with the Annuity provider. I am uninsurable for life assurance but strangely my annuity rate is normal - talk about having your cake and eating it.
PP holders have sacrificed over the years to make provision and then to be forced to make a gamble that is loaded not to their advantage is wrong.
I want to make a genuine choice at my retirement - not forced into only one.
