Closed petition London needs a Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgendered Community Centre - A Formal Request for Government Support and Funding
Closed on
It is concerning that London lacks the presence of a LGBT community centre.
New York, Los Angeles, Paris, Madrid: all these cities are hosts to well-established community hubs of this kind and there is no valid reason why a high-profile metropolis like London should not accommodate a centre for its ever-growing and diverse LGBT community.
The city is home to many people from different cultural backgrounds and with LGBT asylum cases soaring this is yet another point that highlights why a centre is needed.
The main objectives of this petition are:
-to request government support and funding for a LGBT Centre location/building
-to request funding for LGBT centre support workers
The functions of the LGBT centre should be:
-to provide a safe and welcoming space
-to educate, empower and reach out to the community and the public
-to host LGBT-related events
-to provide support and counselling
