The government are currently collecting 57.95p per litre for petrol and then charging 20% VAT on the entire spend including the fuel duty. We currently pay 20% VAT on every penny of fuel duty.
Example - £50 fuel at the pump as £129.7p per litre is made up of £19.33 Petrol £22.34 Fuel Duty and £8.33 VAT
£4.47of that cost is TAX ON TAX
The government should remove this Tax on Tax and reduce the burden on motorists.
