I would like it made illegal to ride a bicycle on pavements/footpaths all over the country, with a £30 fixed penalty fine for offenders.

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s not clear what the petition is asking the UK Government or Parliament to do.

It is already an offence to ride a bicycle on the pavement (s72 of the Highway Act 1835), for which the maximum penalty is considerably more than £30. So there is no action for the Government to take to bring this measure in.

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
