The keeping of chickens in private gardens in built-up areas should be banned. They create a noise nuisance, attract pests including rats, flies and foxes and they often smell. This affects neigbouring properties that are in very close proximity.

Foxes that are attracted by chickens also pose a threat to pets like rabbits and guinea pigs and create problems for people who have dogs and cats in their gardens.
