Petition Arming up to ten percent of Police Force

In light of recent sad events in Woolwich and the fact that it took so long for a armed response team to assist-

I would like to petition that for each police force to be allowed to arm up to 10% of its trained officers with appropriate guns as a trial to enable able bodied officers that are in the vicinity to be able to respond to potential threats to the public. I believe that this additional support for police officers is now essential.
