Since Atos has been appointed by the DWP to make medical assessments for benefit applications, the onus to provide medical evidence has shifted to the applicant. Doctors have been overwhelmed with additional appointments by patients and are often unwilling to break confidentiality to do so. It should be the responsibility of the assessing body to request relevant medical evidence from the medical source, rather than the patient.
