In the event of Scotland becoming an independent state, the Union should not change it's flag to remove the blue background and the white saltire.

The Union Flag is the most recognisable flag in the world - the blue background and the white saltire may have represented Scotland back when the Union came about, but now, the flag in its entirety represents the greatness of this country, and it is a strong, national symbol.

If there is a split in the Union, then the government should vote to retain the current flag of the UK, as it is simply the best flag in the world!
