I call on Mr Mercer to not only resign the tory party whip but to resign his seat in order that the people of Newark can be represented by their choice of MP. If Mr Mercer feels that he has let the tory party down then he has also let his voters down. Do the decent thing and resign your seat now Mr Mercer - let the people of Newark have a by-election.
