The fact that halal and kosher slaughter is permitted in England and Wales is a disgrace. This inhumane and barbaric practice has no place in our society.

Under no circumstances, whether for religious reasons or any other, should these methods be allowed. Subjecting animals to such treatment should be made a criminal offence with punishments proportionate to those under other animal welfare laws.
