To introduce Bitrex into all household products to prevent childhood poisoning.
Discovered by Macfarlan Smith Ltd in 1958 Bitrex is odourless, colourless and harmless. But it is the most powerful bitter substance in the world. Drop one teaspoon into an olympic sized swimming pool and you can still taste it.
A tiny drop of bitrex added to a product makes it virtually impossible to swallow.
