Closed petition All CAM therapies to be made available on the NHS

Closed on

Despite the introduction of Any Qualified Provider (AQP), patients are still not being given full choice in how they are treated.

There is a growing trend towards patients wanting to use complementary and alternative (CAM) therapies, with GMC and NICE guidance both accepting that the numbers of patients who use CAM therapies is steadily increasing.

Currently, 100 million EU citizens, 9 million of whom live in the UK, frequently use a CAM therapy to help them in their recovery.

The rationale behind any complementary, alternative or integrative/holistic treatment is exactly the same as conventional medicine: improving the health of the patient.

We want the government to hold a full debate on whether CAM Therapies should be made available free at the point of use under the NHS, in the same way that current treatment methods are funded and made accessible.
