Petition Relax Settlement Boundaries for Low Impact Custom Built Developments
More details
Planning permission legislation should be altered to actively encourage, not discourage, environmentally friendly, low impact dwellings.
The presumption in favour of sustainable development should not be restricted to only apply within the arbitrary red line of settlement boundaries.
Current planning permission allows for unsustainable, environmentally destructive developments such as supermarkets, and yet discourages low impact dwellings from which inhabitants could live a self-sufficient life.
Proposals should be looked at on an individual basis and if the building materials and construction methods are sustainable, then development should be encouraged, regardless of the location in relation to established settlement boundaries.
