Important:

This petition was submitted during the 2010-2015 parliament

Rejected petition Change the law so that taxpayer funded organisations (like the Agency for Organisation of Serious Crime) cannot refuse instructions of Parliament.

More details

It cannot be right that taxpayer funded organisations can refuse to provide information to the People's Elected Representatives, especially when that refusal could be an indication of, or be misconstrued as, being complicit in or condoning criminal activity, as it appears is the case over the way SOCA has handled the evidence of criminal activity perpetrated by individuals and organisations involved in the phone hacking scandal. The information has been paid for and therefore belongs to the people and without this law there is no protection from conspiracies such as that being indicated by the actions of the management of SOCA.
