In a new program that's sure to drive the FDA absolutely crazy (because the FDA insists that foods have no healing properties whatsoever), New York City has rolled out a "Fruits and Vegetables Prescription Program." It allows doctors to sign up families for food vouchers that they can redeem at local farmer's markets. Local farmers get more business, families get healthier food, and cities like NYC save money on health care costs by preventing chronic disease. This is a petition to pursuade the UK government to initiate a similar scheme and cut the drugs bill.
